Although I was born and educated in England, much of my life has found me in other countries. I studied and worked in Spain and, latterly, have been resident in Japan for upwards of twenty years. I teach law at a women's university. My tastes could well be thought of as somewhat stuffy. I am a devotee of Russian literature, especially Turgenev and Lermontov. I have long been an aficionado of the works of Graham Greene and Evelyn Waugh. Other than literature, I have a fondness for music: Schubert Lieder and Gustav Mahler all the way to Frank Sinatra and the Rolling Stones. I have long been interested in European history, which I used to teach. I like, as it were, to read and think myself into a period. Needless to say, perhaps, from time to time I enjoy a work of erotica, though much of what I encounter on other sites is not particularly well written. I find writing erotica both interesting and a challenge. Exercises in such writing, for me, constitute no more than attempts to put into words any number of logical possibilities regarding structure and action. Also, it amuses me to observe what might happen in a story. It is pleasant to be surprised by a development so that I scratch my head wondering where the idea came from. I am reminded of what Mahler said about composition: "The music composes the composer". Should anyone read this profile, my apologies for being so boring.
