Dog Number 4

So, I used to have two dogs. One was a male 2-3 yr old terrier mix that I adopted back in January and the other was a little female Chiweenie puppy that I adopted back in May. As the puppy got a little bigger she became very playful almost to the point of being annoying and the terrier boy became aggressive with her. So, last month I thought it was best to rehome the male and find someone who would have him as their only dog so he would be more satisfied. I let an older lady who lived alone and claimed to want a companion dog have him. She had a fenced in yard and I thought this would be a great fit because he could go outside to play sometimes.

Fast forward to the beginning of this month. I took in two older chihuahuas whose owner has cancer and is no longer able to take care of them. These dogs had not been taken care of properly for a long time and I am sure it was due to the lady's bad health and the fact that her husband had just passed away a few weeks before. They have settled in, get along fine with the puppy and have totally stolen our hearts.

Yesterday I ge a message from the lady who had taken in the terrier male saying she didn't want him anymore and asking if I would take him back. I was really shocked by this because he is a very sweet little guy and he is perfectly well be haved when he is the only dog in the house. But, she said she had just realized she wasn't a dog person and no longer wanted him.

Of course I say yes I will take him back because it had broken my heart to rehome him in the first place. However, I did not know how my husband was going to feel about this because he had already told me 3 dogs was the limit and we were not getting anymore for a very long time. I was cool with this because I had no idea at the time that my terrier boy would be coming back home. Fortunately, my hubby was totally fine with getting him back because he had missed him too.

So, we are now a 4 dog family! All the dogs seem to be getting along well enough and everyone seems content. I never would have imagined myself ever having this many dogs in my home, but evidently it is meant to be or I would never have found these babies when they needed a loving family the most. :)
