Timing of stories

Noveltrove is rather unique in how it saves stories.  Stories are saved in the database on the date first entered.  Thus, if you submit a story on December 8, 2020, that is the date assigned to the story.  This causes an issue, in my mind at least, in two instances.

The first is if you submit multiple stories on the same day.  Each one I publish will indeed be published, but only the latest one will show on the main page.  This will probably decrease your readership as only people who are familiar with your writing will bother to look up the other parts of your story..

The second issue is one I have just discovered.  You can write your story in the Noveltrove submission box and save it as a "draft", but Noveltrove still assigns the date you started writing as the date in the database.  What this means is that if you begin writing a story on the Noveltrove submission page on December 8, 2020, but don't finish it and click on the "Publish" button until December 15, 2020, Noveltrove still thinks you submitted it on December 8.  When I publish it, you will get an email saying your story has been published, but it will not appear on the home page if there are any stories with later dates published.  It is also likely I could miss it completely if you began writing much more than a couple weeks before you submitted it because it will be on an earlier database page.

The cure for both is to submit one story at a time, and to write the story in a word processor and then cut and paste your story into the submission page and click the Publish button on the same day.  I'm not sure what word processors Noveltrove can work with, but I have used two - Microsoft Word and a Word clone named "Open Office Writer".  I would suspect Noveltrove will accept most text files though you might have to edit for extra spacing, line length, and other formatting once you've pasted it into the submission box.  Noveltrove does not do well with stories written in HTML.

If you don't have a word processor, then be sure to finish the story and click the Publish button on the same day.

I do not have the ability to change this, so thank you for your understanding.
